As the family moved to France, there was no club trip this summer. As a result it’s been converted in a family summer trip.
The theme was to go along the Alpes. First destination Annecy. Then it was lake Constance with a stop in Friedrichshafen. Then over to Austria and a stop in Salszburg. Finally stop via Stuttgart before going back to Rouen. In ICAO terms, this is LFOP -> LFLP -> EDNY -> LOWS -> EDDS -> LFOP.
LFOP -> LFLP
I filed a Zulu flight plan for this leg. The weather forecast was pretty bad from Dijon with difficulties to fly 1000 ft AGL. This was only during 50-60 miles on the way was not an issue for the arrival which was forecasted 4000ft AGL. As the tower was closed in Annecy we had to cancel IFR as soon as I got VMC because the approach ATC wouldn’t let us fly the RNP with the tower closed.
Eventually pretty nice decent ๐

LFLP -> EDNY
Pretty simple flight. Just following the curve of the alpes and Staying at rather low altitude, most time barely more than 1000ft AGL. Flying over lake Leman was very experience.

EDNY -> LOWS
Taking off next to a Landing Zeppelin.
Then it was pretty short IFR followed by an ILS approach.

Key part of the trip in Salszburg is the Hangar-7

LOWS -> EDDS
VFR trip to Stuttgart. Nice weather, while flying away from the Alpes and flatter land.

EDDS -> LFOP
Navigating showers on the way back. We had to turn a bit around but still fairly straight flight to destination.
